LMHC Licensure Requirements in Florida
The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling requires all registered mental health counseling interns to:
- complete 100 hours of supervision in no less than 100 weeks.
- complete 1500 face-to-face direct client contact hours (now includes telehealth)
- have at least 1 hour of supervision every 2 weeks
- complete the licensure requirements within 5 years of becoming a registered intern
What to Expect In Supervision
Professional growth is important and a continuous process throughout our career. My approach to supervision is rooted in empathy, respect, and a genuine passion for the field. As your supervisor, you can expect me to review and provide feedback to clinical documentation, recorded therapy sessions, intake assessments, and case presentations. We will review different counseling theories and techniques to ensure you have a clear understanding of each and can choose which ones may work best for you and your clients. You can expect ongoing feedback and evaluation to ensure progress. In addition, expect to provide feedback and suggest areas of improvement to increase my competence as a supervisor.
